Strawberry Mango Smoothie

Strawberry Mango Smoothie

Let’s call this smoothie a farewell to summer tribute. Farewell to back sweat. Farewell to lawn mowing. Farewell to coconut tropical flavored lotion and lip gloss. Farewell to lounging by the pool. Farewell to flip-flops and palm trees. Oh yeah, we don’t have palm trees in Nebraska. Maybe this is just a bunch of fluff because I am feeling bad about not getting this recipe posted until mid-September.

Do smoothies have a season anyway?

I guess in my book smoothies are a great way to start the day. Make it through the day. Or, end the day. What can I say? I like a good smoothie.

A smoothie is just as much about texture as it is taste. If you use too much ice, the intense flavor of the fruit is lost and if you use room temperature fresh fruit, it is like slurping a baby food puree…gross. I really think the key to a perfectly textured smoothie is to use mostly frozen fruit. I’ve been known to use yogurt, ice, protein powder, etc. in my smoothies, but in this recipe things are best left simplified. Simple is fine by me!

Throw the frozen strawberries, frozen mango chunks, skim milk, and honey into your blender and give it a zip. Add more milk in small increments if needed to get it to come together. Add more honey to your taste preference (this depends on how sweet the fruit is.) Spoon the smoothie mixture into glasses and you have a perfectly textured, tasty smoothie!

Teerust me, this smoothie is p-e-r-f-e-c-t! Mango is so stinkin’ good for you, and your kids will go bonkers over this!

On another note, does anyone else hate ironing? I think I wait until my husband is down to his very last pair of dress pants before I bust out the iron. I have to iron this weekend because another work week is underway and I am pretty sure my husband is negative two on the dress pant count. Does that even make sense? Translation: he has nothing clean to wear come Monday.

In my husband’s defense, he is more than willing to iron his own clothes, but…uh hum…they sorta look funny when he does the ironing. I have to give him some serious credit though because one time he washed all of my bras in a separate load on delicate cycle. I was very impressed (in a disturbing kind of way)!

Well, I was impressed until I asked him where he learned how to do that and he said he just read the tags.

Oh, duh. Of course, he just read the tags. I do that too.

Alright, now I am just procrastinating. I am going to go read some tags and iron.

I am sorry if you are a man, you just read this, and are completely offended. Really, I am.
